Privacy Policy
This policy explains what the USCIS Silent Case Tracker app, published by Washington Trade LLC ("we", "us"), does and does not do with your information.
Your case is analyzed on your device
There is no account and no sign-up. Everything you add, such as case records, receipt numbers, names, timelines and notices, is analyzed on your device and stored in the app's local storage. Your name, A-number and address are never sent anywhere. The only case information that leaves your device is the anonymous statistics described below, which you can turn off.
Anonymous case statistics
To show how long cases like yours take, the app shares a few anonymous facts about each case with our statistics server: the form type (for example I-485), the category you choose (for example EB-2 or IR), the service-center prefix of the receipt number, the month the case was filed, the USCIS event codes with their dates, and whether and when it was decided. The server keeps only the filing month, not the day.
Your receipt number is sent so the same case is counted only once. On arrival the server turns it into a one-way keyed code (an HMAC) and discards the number itself; it is never stored or logged, and the code cannot be turned back into the number. Your phone is identified only by a random ID created for this purpose, not by your name, Apple ID or any advertising identifier.
Statistics are shown only for groups of at least 30 cases, so no single case can be picked out. To keep the numbers honest, the app uses Apple's App Attest to prove that uploads come from the real app; this sends Apple no case data.
Sharing is on by default and you can turn it off at any time in Settings → Anonymous Statistics, where you can also delete everything your phone has shared. The data is stored with Supabase, our database provider, in the United States.
What is stored on your device
Your imported case history, display preferences (timezone, appearance, reminder settings) and subscription status are stored locally using standard iOS storage (UserDefaults and the app's Application Support directory). Deleting the app deletes this data. It is never backed up to any server we control.
In-app browser
Signing in to USCIS and viewing your case data happens inside a standard Apple in-app Safari view (SFSafariViewController), which uses your existing Safari session. The app cannot read, inject scripts into, or access anything you do inside that browser view. You copy and paste the data yourself.
Subscriptions and payment
Subscription purchases are processed entirely by Apple through StoreKit. The app never sees or stores your payment details. That information is handled by your Apple ID and App Store account.
Notifications
If you enable check-in reminders, they are scheduled locally on your device using Apple's notification framework. No reminder data is sent externally.
Analytics and crash reports
To understand how the app is used and to fix crashes, the app uses Google Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics. They receive anonymous usage information only, for example which setup screen was viewed, how long a step took, whether a case import succeeded, which plan was chosen, and crash diagnostics. They never receive your case data: no receipt numbers, names, dates, case statuses or pasted JSON. This information is not linked to your identity and is not used for advertising, and advertising identifiers are not collected.
Third parties
Besides Google Firebase and Supabase (above), the only third parties involved are Apple (App Store, StoreKit, notifications, App Attest), the USCIS website, which you interact with directly and knowingly, and the U.S. Department of State website, from which the app reads the public Visa Bulletin. The app does not use advertising networks, and we do not sell your information.
Children
The app is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Not affiliated with USCIS
USCIS Silent Case Tracker is an independent app. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services or any U.S. government agency, and it does not provide legal advice.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will post the updated version on this page and update the date above.
